When the bizarre antics of a newly single father get out of control, his frustrated tween daughter turns to a clandestine support group run by kids, for kids like her: Embarrassing Parents Anonymous.
Frustrated teenager in waiting LARA is at the lowest point of her life so far. After her parents' abrupt separation, her bumbling dad BEN is not handling this parenting thing by himself. His increasingly bizarre attempts to connect with Lara aren't just failing - they're driving them apart. Pushed to her limit, Lara finds an underground support group disguised as an 'acting class' for kids: Embarrassing Parents Anonymous. Led by the mysterious KATE, the weekly meetings help members like HANNAH (a Harajuku punk with a helicopter mum) and recovering sugar addict CASEY handle their embarrassing parents by sharing their personal experiences and wisdom with the group.
Each week, the members of EPA share their own stomach-turning tales and rely on their diverse experiences to solve their grown-up problems. Meanwhile, the Parents congregate at a pub across the road and we see the other side of these embarrassing stories. In these two sanctuaries, Lara and Ben will attempt to untangle their messy relationship, realising that growing up is hard and sometimes scary. Over the season, we'll see EPA threatened by external forces, like CLARISSA - the slippery and conniving 'drama teacher' who thwarts EPA at every turn. And each week pushes Ben further into his budding romance with single mum SAM - but closer to the day his absent wife AMY might return.
